APPRENTICES under Apprentices Act, 1961 at operating locations in the States of Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha & West Bengal in Eastern India.

Qualification / Eligibility Criteria:

(I) For Discipline Code 1 / 4/ 7/10/13-Technician Apprentice Mechanical: 3 Years full time regular / sandwich diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

(ii) For Discipline Code 2/5/8/11 / 14 – Technician Apprentice Electrical: 3 Years full time regular / sandwich diploma In Electrical Engineering /, Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

(Ill) For Discipline Code 3/6/9/12/15-Technician Apprentice Instrumentation : 3 Years full time regular / sandwich diploma in Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation & Control Engineering.

(iv) For Discipline Code 16 – Trade, Apprentice Laboratory Assistant : 3 years full time B.Sc

(Physics,Mathematics,Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry).

Applicable conditions regarding Qun -(a) The qualification prescribed shall be from a recognized University/Institute as full time, regular / sandwich / diploma course in Engineering / full time regular course in B.Sc in relevant disciplines only) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate for General & OBC candidates and 45% marks in aggregate in case of SC/ST & PWD candidates against reserved positions.

(b) Should NOT have undergone Apprenticeship earlier or pursuing Apprenticeship Training as per the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 as amended from time to time. (c) Candidates, who have training or job experience for a period of one year or more; after acquiring the prescribed qualifications, shall NOT be eligible for being engaged as Technician Apprentice. (d) The applicant for the position of Technician Apprentices should NOT have completed three years after passing of the qualifying examination as on 01.12.2016.

(e) In case the date of Declaration of result is not mentioned in the Mark Sheet, the candidate [ must submit a certificate mentioning the date of publication of result from the Principal of the Polytechnic / College / Institute from where the candidate pursued his Diploma / Degree course, along with his / her application form.

(f) Candidates with qualification acquired through Distance Learning Mode or Part Time I Mode or Correspondence Mode shall not be considered.

Age : 18-24 years as on 01.12.2016( Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, i.e. upto max of 29 years, 3 years for OBC i.e. upto max of I 27 years, for the posts reserved for them).

Candidates belonging to PWD categories shall I toe given age relaxation upto 10 years (upto 15 years for SC / ST and upto 13 years for OBC r (Non-Creamy Layer) Candidates).

Period of Apprenticeship Training 12 Months [ for Technician Apprentice in Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation and 18 months for Trade Apprentice – Laboratory Assistant (Chemical Plant). The service conditions of the apprentices so selected would be governed by The Apprentice Act 1961 as amended from time to time.

Selection Procedure:

(i). Selection process would consist of two stages i.e written test & personal interview.

The written test will be of two hours duration & would comprise of objective type of questions with multiple choice on the relevant discipline, general knowledge/awareness and I reasoning / logical ability. There shall be no negative marking.

(ii). Obtaining minimum qualifying marks in the written test does not confer any right or claim by the candidate for being shortlisted for Personal Interview or the final selection, as the same is related to number of positions, relative performance In respective categories.

(iii). The written test and interview would carry a weightage of 85% and 15% respectively.

(iv): Final selection will b& based on aggregate . of Written Test and Persqpal Interview marks. , Candidates, in the order ef rrjerit will be offered the apprenticeship, if

(v). The candidates Will have to qualify successfully through each stage of the selection process I.e. Written Test and Personal Interview (Minimum 40%, relaxable by 5% for candidates from SC/ST/PWD Categories against reserved positions) and Prearrangement medical fitness for being adjudged suitable for engagement

Wherever CGPA / OGPA or Letter Grade is awarded in the Diploma / Degree examination, its equivalent aggregate percentage of marks must be indicated in the Online Application Form as per the norms adopted by University / Institute. Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as BE/BTech or equivalent, MBA or equivalent or MCA shall NOT be considered.

Verification of documents:

The verification of the original documents shall be done at the time of conduct of personal interview.

(a) Xth Std / SSLC / Matriculate certificate / marksheet issued by the concerned education board as proof of date of birth.No other document will be accepted for verification of date of birth.

Edu Qun : Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream / Mathematics / Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications / Environmental Science / Applied Physics / Oceanography / Meteorology / Agricultural Meteorology / Ecology & Environment / Geophysics / Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of ail papers put together (Maths and Physics should be studied at Graduation Level, with a minimum of 55% marks in both subjects).

Physical Standards –

(I) Height and Weight: Minimum height -157.5 Cms for men & 152 Cms for women with correlated weight.

(II) All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air ‘ Force Medical Authorities whose decision on the fitness would be final.

Candidates appearing in final year/semester examinations may also apply provided they fulfil the following conditions – (a) Candidates should not have any present backlog and should have secured a minimum of 50% marks In Post Graduation in aggregate in all papers put together upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared at the time of applying /AFSB testing.

(b) Candidates should be able to provide provisional / original degree certificate latest by 15.0.17.

Pay : Rs. 15,600-39,100 per month along with Grade Pay, Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, Transport Allowance. In addition, other allowances are applicable based on nature of duty / place of posting and would include, Field Area Allowance, Special Compensatory (Hill area) Allowance, Special Force Allowance, Siachin Allowance, Island Special Duty Allowance, Hard Area Allowance and Remote Locality Allowance. On successful completion of Training, the newly Commissioned Flying Officers would be entitled to approximate gross monthly emoluments In Meteorology Branch, including Transport Allowance of major cities, of Rs. 68,550/-.

In addition to the Pay & Allowances, Officers are entitled to Furnished Accommodation, Comprehensive Medical Cover for self and dependents, Leave Travel Concession, Leave (60 days Annual and 20 days Casual), supply of entitled rations, canteen & Officers’Mess facilities and many more.

Rs. 50. Lakh Insurance Cover (on contribution) Is applicable to serving officers.

SELECTION PROCEDURE –

Candidates will be called for testing at one of the

Air Force Selection

Boards (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar, Varanasi or Kanchrapara. The testing would consist ! of two stages as given below –

(a) Stage-T – Test consisting of Intelligence Test along with other tests will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I Test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. Thereafter, all candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the Meteorology Branch. Those candidates who either do not qualify In Stage-I testing or do not meet the | required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day Itself.

(b) Stage-ll – Testing consisting of Psychological Test, Group Tests and Interview will be conducted on subsequent days (Five Days).

Change of Interview Dates – Request for change pt of SSB interview date should be avoided. However, as an exception, such change may be if considered based on the circumstances of the case. Request for such change should be forwarded to the respective AFSB from where the call letter for SSB interview has been received and not to Air Headquarters. The AFSBs may r consider change of date at their” discretion.

Medical Examination will be conducted at AFCME, New Delhi or 1AM Bengaluru based on the recommendations at AFSB.

Candidates recommended by the AFSBs and declared medically fit will be detailed for training in the order of all India Merit list depending on the, number of vacancies available. Grant of PC / SSC would be based on number of vacancies, performance in the selection process and the choice given by the candidate.

No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained during the testing at AFSB.

10% of the vacancies are reserved for NCC Air Wing ‘C certificate holders.

Duration of Engagement :

SSC – 10 yrs. extendable by 4 yrs.

PC – Till superannuation.

Training –

Training is scheduled to commence in the first week of Jan 2018.

The duration of training for Meteorology Branch Is 52 weeks at Air Force Training Establishments.

In case the candidates are awarded grades /CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the I procedure certified by the University from where they have obtained the degree. In case the University does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.

Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried (term unmarried excludes widower and divorcee even though without encumbrances). Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live out with family.. Prospective candidates are advised to keep themselves in good physical condition to adapt to physical training at AFA which encompasses running, swimming, rope climbing and other forms of physical training. / conditioning.
